Amino acid biogeochemistry (1-2 students, NSF funded)

We seek one to two graduate students for NSF-funded research in amino acid biogeochemistry, focusing on two complementary projects.

Amino acid geochronology. Advance racemization dating using marine mollusk shells to establish temperature-dependent age benchmarks for Last Interglacial high sea-level deposits.

Lake sediment biogeochemistry. Investigate racemization and decomposition patterns in lake sediment cores to understand organic matter cycling and its long-term fate.

Students will gain hands-on expertise in biogeochemical analysis, paleoclimate applications, and data interpretation, with access to state-of-the-art facilities via the ACE Radiocarbon Lab and opportunities to collaborate with an interdisciplinary research team.
