Dr. Kerry Grimm was a conservation social scientist in the School of Earth and Sustainability at Northern Arizona University from 2014 to 2020, working closely with NAU’s Ecological Restoration Institute. Her research examined the human side of conservation and restoration: how communities, landowners, managers, and volunteers engage with and shape ecological work.
Her work at NAU included social capacity for collaborative landscape planning, the role of nonprofits in public lands management, resilience concepts in forest management, landowners’ valuation of ecosystem services, citizen science, and local ecological knowledge in restoration practice.
After leaving NAU, Dr. Grimm founded the research consultancy Human-Environment Connections and now serves as Director of Conservation Social Science at the National Audubon Society. Her publications from her time in SES remain in the publication database, and her current work is listed on her Google Scholar profile.
