Lucero Radonic

Dr. Lucero Radonic is an Associate Professor at Northern Arizona University, where she has been on the faculty since 2023. She is an applied environmental anthropologist working at the intersection of water governance, infrastructure, and environmental change in Latin America and the United States.

Research

Dr. Radonic studies how people gain, lose, and negotiate access to water as cities grow and the climate changes. Her ethnographic work began with dissertation research on water management among the Yaquis of Hermosillo, Sonora, and has grown into a program spanning urban water security, green infrastructure, and the politics of adaptation. Recent work examines whose knowledge and values count in green-infrastructure planning, including bilingual community engagement as a practice of environmental justice, and uses participatory methods that make community members partners in the research rather than subjects of it.
