Rosemary Logan

Dr. Rosemary Logan teaches in the First Year Seminar Program and the Sustainable Communities Program at Northern Arizona University, where she has been a faculty member since 2013. Her work centers on education as a practice of sustainability: how learning experiences transform the way people relate to their communities, food systems, and landscapes.

Teaching and Scholarship

Dr. Logan’s scholarship focuses on transformative and experiential learning: what happens when education moves out of the lecture hall and into gardens, communities, and long-term mentored projects. Her doctoral research followed graduates of Expeditionary Learning schools to understand how immersive schooling shapes later civic and environmental engagement, and her teaching puts those findings into practice through community-based projects, permaculture and food-systems work, and first-year seminars that anchor new students in the ecology and communities of the Colorado Plateau.
